Welcome to Church Planting BC
Transforming our Cities: One Life at a Time
Sometimes we are asked why we dispense so much time, energy and finances on church planting. The most basic answer we can give is: obedience to Christ. We want to join God in His redemptive plan, and one of the best ways we can reach British Columbia is by starting new churches.
We want to see lives, and ultimately communities, transformed by the power of the gospel, and we want to see people becoming fully devoted followers of Christ. We see ourselves as a “home missions” organization. For decades our churches have invested generously in the developing world through numerous great “global mission” organizations. Today’s mission remains a global mission. We fully endorse the cause of global missions – while seeing our strategic role as the “home team” right in the back yard. Before we were called Church Planting BC, the group was called Board of Church Extension, or BOCE for short. Before that, the team was known as Home Missions. It seems that in this “post Christian era”, we have come full circle to a Home Missions organization. Just as MBMSI is sending missionaries to parts of the world who don’t know Christ, with the purpose of introducing people to the gospel, and starting a church; so too, Church Planting BC are sending missionaries into urban centers in BC to introduce people to Christ, and see a new church birthed.
It is not our intention to start up churches for “alternative styles” or for any other purpose besides extending the Kingdom. We thought it might be helpful if we listed the current plants that are working with Church Planting BC. As you read this list, notice the mission statements of the plants and observe the similarities of why these plant teams do what they do.
