Please pray:
For Workers: Matthew 9:35-38 instructs us to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out the workers. This ministry is truly Jesus’ ministry and we trust that He has already selected the right men for this task. Please join us in praying that the right leaders would respond to the call of God. Pray for each region and each city in our province – that God would send out the workers needed!
For Financial Support: Philippians 4:19 reminds us that God WILL meet all our needs. CPBC receives just under $400,000 from the BCMB Conference. The rest of our $1.4M budget is raised through supporting churches, individual donors, fund-raising banquets, and concerned supporters. Please join us in prayer as we trust God for the resources needed to continue to fund this great work.
For Partnerships: Strategically we understand that as Mennonite Brethren we will never accomplish the task of city transformation alone! We need huge numbers of partners from many different tribes all working in tandem and harmony. Pray that as we reach out to other networks and other denominations, that God would give us favour in building strategic alliances!
For Buildings: Please pray “miracle” type prayer in regard to facilities in the city. Many older congregations are closing their doors, their buildings are being sold, and developers are building condos where the gospel was once preached. Please join us in urgent prayer that we will find favour with other groups who might be willing to “gift” their buildings to new congregations. Once these properties are re-developed, that zoning is lost forever! Pray that new expressions of church could bring life back to many of these historical properties!
For “Urban” Wisdom and Understanding: Especially to understand the dynamics of planting churches in the urban core. As MB’s we have had great ministries in small towns, rural and suburban communities, but have never flourished in the urban setting. It is a new day of learning for us. Pray that God would give us “missionary” gifts of contextualization and cross-cultural understanding as we learn what it means to flourish in the city!
