Joe & Heather Haynes
Apprenticing At: Gateway Baptist Church - Victoria, BC
The Haynes represent a new era of partnership in church-planting! Gateway Baptist Church will be the host church for the Hayne's apprenticeship in Victoria, after which Joe & Heather intend to plant a Mennonite Brethren Church. Through the partnership with Gateway, CPBC is able to give the Haynes an opportunity to serve in a healthy, multiplying church family, before launching their own congregation. Joe describes their journey below:
Heather and I have been involved in pastoral ministry, with an emphasis on evangelism, since 2002. I have an M.A. in Christian Studies from ACTS Seminaries and have served on staff at churches in Vancouver, Alberta, and, as Senior Pastor, in Saskatchewan.
Over the past few years we as a family have enjoyed many highlights in ministry life, as well as a number of sorrows. Through it all, we have been humbled to witness the Spirit of God at work using our gifts, our home, even our kitchen table conversation shared with guests over a meal, to bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ. Perhaps most importantly, I have learned to rely heavily on the power of God through His Word--preached, taught and obeyed--to save souls, build up and shape His Church.
As we enter a new season of ministry, aiming to plant a church in the city of Victoria, Heather and I are eager to be used by God not only to plant a new church where there is a need; not only to see people transformed and saved by the power of the Gospel; not only to grow a healthy, Christ-exalting congregation in Victoria, but to be part of a new movement of planting churches that plant churches--a movement of doctrinally sound, Gospel-preaching, Spirit-empowered, city-changing churches that will glorify God in the context of Victoria in ways we cannot yet imagine.
