Tony & Rebekah Janzen
Apprenticing At: West Village Church - Victoria BC
We have been married since April 2000, and have never been more in love with each other and excited about where God is leading us. We have three boys, and a dog named Murray. Tony has been on staff at Black Creek MB Church on Vancouver Island for the last four years, and we feel that we have fully been assimilated as islanders.
In Matthew 9, it says that "Jesus looked at the crowds and had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'"
Greater Victoria has around 360,000 people, and most of them are lost. Victoria is one of the least churched cities of our province and a melting-pot of Godless spirituality. God has put a love and a compassion in our hearts for the people and the city, and he is sending us there as missionaries to start a new church with a strong focus on reaching people with the Good News of the Gospel. We plan to move to Victoria in the summer of 2011. Tony will be doing an apprenticeship for a period of time with another church plant during which we will be gathering a core group of people and laying the ground work for launching. Please pray with us that God would send out workers to join us in this field; maybe you?
