Many of us have questions about God and life that we are afraid to ask in front of others. We carry with us doubts, fears, and pain which act as insulators that keep us from exploring spirituality. Some have found “church” to be an unsafe place where it seems that if you don’t comply with belief, you’re out. Others have avoided “church” altogether because they feel that anything remotely religious is out-of-date, out-of-touch and out-to-lunch!
If you find yourself resonating with any of the comments above, perhaps we can be of help to you. The vision of Urban Journey is to create a community of people who are willing to journey together and explore with honesty what faith in God looks like – faith which transforms every facet of the way we think, play and live. This “church” is not a building with people; we are people building into each other. We don’t have lots of programs (we leave that to the community centres), but we do actively participate in the community we live in, loving and serving the neighborhood in every way possible. You won’t find lots of people here so that you can remain anonymous – we’re a smaller group with the intention that everyone is known, cared for and loved.
So if the way Urban Journey defines “church” is something you’re interested in learning more about, come and hang out with us for a few weeks and see what you think. The worst that could happen is that you’ll make a new friend (and you may gain a few pounds ‘cause we have some great food at our gatherings).
