New Associate Director…

We at Church Planting BC would like to take a minute to share with you some exciting news! As you know we have been in the discernment process for hiring a replacement for Mark Burch, who served as Associate Director for CPBC. The list of qualifications and expectancies is long…it is very important to us that the candidate would be the right fit for our staff and our planters….we have been praying for someone who was called of God…a leader with a solid understanding of the Word, a brother who would resonate with our passion to see Gospel Centered, Spirit Led, Mission Focused, Churches planted across BC,…someone who could fill that pastoral role and complement our team.

Through many weeks of praying, seeking God, interviews and discernment by myself, as well as our Church Planting BC Leadership Team and BCMB Executive Board, it is my pleasure to announce the hire of Chris Douglas as new Associate Director of Church Planting BC. Chris is the former Sr. Pastor of Central Heights Church in Abbotsford. In 1998 he and his wife Dianne, along with their 3 daughters, moved to Canada from the Seattle area where Chris served for 7 years on the staff of a large non-denominational church. His ministry has ranged from youth work to Fire Department Chaplain and has included a stint as a co-host on two different weekly radio programs.

Chris brings a wealth of knowledge, pastoral gifts and teaching ability to our team. He has already been getting to know each of you through our newsletters, website and has begun praying for each of you individually. I am confident that Chris and Dianne will be a great addition to our church planting team and we look forward to them joining us officially on October 1 as we work together to advance the Kingdom and make Jesus known.

A Great Cadre with Bruxy Cavey

Our September Cadre down on Granville Island was another great day of networking, sharing and learning together. Church Planters and Pastors from across BC, joined us for this event. Bruxy shared with us that The Gospel is the Good News that God has come to us through Christ to: Show us His love, Save us from sin, Set up His Kingdom, & Shut down religion.

Great Prayer Retreat at Pender Island Mark Centre

Several of our Church Planters met together at the end of August for a time of prayer and reflection before we all head into the crazy fa

ll schedule. As a Church Planting Network that wants to be led by the Spirit, we felt that it was important to start off this fall season praying for each other, the ministries we are involved in, our cities, and for Canada.

Some took out the kayaks and enjoyed the beauty of creation, while others went on a hike, a walk, or just rested on a hammock.

What a blessing it was to be able to be at such a wonderful spot. Thank you Lord for your many blessings.

Jeff Vanderstelt: Jeff is a church planter who leads SOMA Communities, also body of church planting churches in the south Puget Sound. He also serves as Vice President of Acts 29. Jeff spends most of his time equipping church planters and leaders in Gospel centered leadership and missionally focused methodology. He has been planting churches for 6 years. Jeff and his wife Jayne have been married for 17 years and have 3 children.
